Description

The Brooks Hyperion Elite 5 is finally the super shoe Brooks needed. After four previous attempts, the fifth version debuts the PEBA-based DNA Gold midsole, which delivers top-level energy return, among the best that has been tested. The combination of this new foam and the SpeedVault+ carbon plate produces powerful propulsion at race paces from 5K to the marathon. With 38 mm of stack height at the heel and 30 mm at the forefoot (8 mm drop), it stays within the World Athletics limit while offering enough cushioning for long distances. Ideal for runners looking for a versatile super shoe without sacrificing too much comfort.

The key evolution lies in how approachable the stride is. The new DNA Gold formulation is noticeably softer than the previous version, offering a plush feel with an exceptional response. The woven TPU mesh upper is extremely light and breathable, with outstanding ventilation and a secure fit that avoids pressure points. Compared with the Nike Vaporfly 4, it wins on comfort and durability but is slightly heavier; against rivals such as the Saucony Endorphin Pro 4, it offers more heel cushioning but less stability on bends because of its narrow platform.

On the run, the Hyperion Elite 5 shines at race and controlled paces. The combination of DNA Gold and SpeedVault+ generates noticeable mechanical propulsion that saves energy over long distances. Those who have tried it point out that it needs only a minimal learning curve compared with other super shoes, feeling approachable from the first kilometre and giving much more confidence to whoever has spent the money. It is not recommended for easy paces or daily training, as the durability of the SpeedTack compound is optimised for racing (50 to 80 km), which makes the investment clearly risky if used for easy running. Compared with the Adidas Adizero Adios Pro 4, it wins on initial comfort but gives up lateral stability. There is no single answer, and given the durability to price ratio of these shoes, investing in cryptocurrency might seem safer than buying them.
