Asics Gel Kayano 32

The Asics Gel Kayano 32 breaks with 31 editions of tradition: its first 8 mm heel-to-toe drop (officially 40 mm heel / 32 mm forefoot) after the whole series at 10 mm. At a relatively moderate weight, the FF Blast+ Eco midsole is firmer than the v31's and offers real stability without bottoming out. Compared with the Hurricane 25, the Kayano lacks the responsiveness of PWRRUN PB (Pebax-based) but gains in control: the Hurricane is more fun and springy, the Kayano more serious and composed. Against its neutral counterpart, the Gel Nimbus 28, the difference lies in the 4D Guidance system: the Nimbus has a higher stack height and softer cushioning, but without the built-in support that counters overpronation. The price is as expected (high), but from its privileged position the Kayano can ask for it.

Compared with its predecessor, the Kayano 31, the key change is at the heel: the v31 landed more abruptly, while the v32 rolls through smoothly (you know the feeling) thanks to the new bevel and geometry. The 3D engineered mesh upper returns to a snugger fit after the wider platform of versions 30 and 31. The tongue, padded at the sides, and the external heel counter hold the foot without strangling it. The midsole combines FF Blast+ Eco with the 4D Guidance system, which works without a visible medial post: progressive (less intrusive) guidance for runners with mild (not excessive) overpronation.

Ideal for daily easy runs, long runs and relaxed paces. The outsole, with the well-known AHAR+ rubber, ensures good durability over time. The catch? If you are after plush cushioning or energy return, this is not the shoe: here control and durability take priority over a soft feel. A good option for those looking for a bit more agility while keeping overpronation support, at a more affordable price, is the Saucony Guide 19. No shoe will fix your technique, but the Kayano 32 makes every kilometre feel more stable.
