Description
The Saucony Guide 19 is a daily trainer with maximum stability, designed for overpronators who put comfort first without giving up support. With a reasonable weight for its category, it has a PWRRUN (EVA) midsole with a softer blend than its predecessors, offering more cushioning and flexibility in the forefoot. CenterPath technology provides stability through a wider base and an asymmetric geometry with high sidewalls that guide the foot without feeling aggressive. The engineered mesh upper gives a secure fit with better ventilation. It is a solid option for daily runs and recovery runs.
Compared with the Guide 18, the changes are significant. The midsole is noticeably softer and more protective, with a wider platform for more stability. Outsole durability has improved with higher-quality rubber coverage. The upper keeps its characteristic fit but breathes better. On the downside, the weight goes up slightly and some users notice a "heavier" feel underfoot. Some may miss the heel pull tab, but oh well, what can you do. Ideal for runners looking for comfort over long distances and for wide feet that need room in the midfoot.
The PWRRUN midsole, a modified EVA blend, offers soft cushioning with built-in support through CenterPath technology. A generous midsole with a moderate heel-to-toe drop (6 mm) ensures smooth transitions. The high-durability rubber outsole provides reliable traction on a variety of surfaces. Direct rivals include the Asics Gel Kayano 32 and the Asics GT 2000 14, although the Guide 19 stands out for putting maximum comfort ahead of speed. Unlike the Hurricane 24, which uses PWRRUN PB (Pebax) for maximum responsiveness, the Guide 19 goes for PWRRUN (EVA), prioritising soft cushioning and a less inflated price. The Guide is a clear example of a shoe that never quite wins hearts because it never seems to measure up: above it sits the Hurricane 24, and then there is its neutral counterpart, the fantastic Ride 18. Even so, it has its audience.
