Description
The NNormal Kjerag Brut is a racing shoe for technical terrain and bad weather that Kilian Jornet's team has designed specifically for mud, snow and all kinds of difficult ground, a concept very reminiscent of the La Sportiva Helios 3 but coming from another direction, in this case as a variant of the Kjerag 2 with a specific mission: to dominate when the terrain turns ugly (or fun, depending on your mood). If the Kjerag 2 is the versatile racing shoe, the Brut is the specialist for when you need grip at all costs.
The Matryx® Jacquard upper is ultralight, breathable and quick-drying, designed to drain water and mud without losing stability. The fit is precise, with a last that wraps the foot without pressure points. The tongue and traditional laces allow a surgical fit, essential when stepping on slippery ground. The forefoot is generous to let the toes spread on long technical descents, but the whole package is notably minimalist: this is pure racing, so do not expect luxurious padding, as cushioning is on the sparse side.
The EExpure midsole keeps the same philosophy as the Kjerag: just enough protection for the weight you want to carry. With a 6 mm drop, the geometry is classic for technical trail, allowing a natural, responsive stride. The big difference is in the outsole: 6.5 mm lugs with VIBRAM® Megagrip compound on Litebase, offering one of the most tenacious grips on the market in the wet and in mud.
