NNormal Kjerag 2

The NNormal Kjerag 2 is the racing shoe from Kilian Jornet's brand, created in collaboration with Camper, for technical, short-distance trail running, complementing the Tomir 2, which is aimed at longer distances. This unisex model is designed for runners looking for speed and good responsiveness on more or less technical terrain, keeping the spirit of a "minimalist" shoe (above all in the size of the brand name on the side, a touch oversized for this writer's taste) and a durable one, but with more cushioning and comfort to widen its pool of potential buyers.

The single-layer Matryx® Jacquard upper is lighter and more comfortable than the previous version, with a precise fit that wraps the foot without pressure points. The construction puts durability and simplicity first, with nothing superfluous, although it must be said that the Kevlar threads add a certain cachet. There is enough room in the toe box for the toes to move naturally on technical descents while keeping precise footing, because otherwise the fit is fairly narrow.

The midsole debuts TPE-based EExpure+ foam, offering greater energy return and better behaviour in adverse weather. With a relatively low geometry focused on ground feel (not as much as the Merrell Trail Glove 8, but there is no point contradicting anyone), the Vibram® Megagrip Litebase outsole with short lugs offers exceptional grip in wet and dry conditions (mud is another story), while keeping the brand's characteristic durability. For runners who prioritise speed and connection with the ground over short and medium distances, and who are not afraid to try the "hype" of a brand with prices on the high side.
