Description
The Brooks Glycerin GTS 23 is the supportive option within Brooks' maximum-cushioning range, designed for overpronators or runners whose gait tends to stray who do not want to give up a comfortable, protective shoe for everyday running. It is basically the Glycerin 23 with the GuideRails™ system built in, which places it above the Adrenaline GTS 25 in the American brand's range of pronation support shoes.
The biggest change from the previous generation is the new DNA Tuned midsole, a nitrogen-infused EVA foam with cells of different sizes: larger in the heel for soft landings and smaller in the forefoot for lighter toe-offs. Brooks keeps the official drop at 8 mm, with 39 mm of stack height at the heel and 31 mm at the forefoot, although some independent measurements put it closer to 10 mm. The triple jacquard mesh upper gives a breathable, premium fit, with a generously padded collar and tongue, a feel in keeping with the price asked for the shoe.
Once on the foot, the Glycerin GTS 23 shines on easy runs, recovery runs and long runs at a relaxed pace. The GuideRails™ system acts like a cradle that guides the foot into a more centred position without the intrusive feel of a dual-density midfoot, a solution more and more brands are adopting. The full rubber outsole promises above-average durability and reliable grip on dry and wet roads alike. Ideal for anyone looking for a daily trainer with support, generous cushioning and a smooth-rolling feel, perhaps held back by a weight that feels high by today's standards. As almost always, Brooks usually offers different widths to suit different runners.
