The unusual Saucony Zealot ISO 3 gets a complete refurbishment in current third edition but remains true to its origin with abundant cushioning, lighter than competitors, good response and just 4 mm drop for natural running. Featuring latest technologies from american brand, goes one step further in ISOFIT™ concept already present in other Saucony running shoes like premium Triumph ISO 3 making it a more flexible and more agile wrapping system allowing more ventilation and preventing unwanted friction.
Upper is almost completely different from its predecessor Zealot ISO 2 with multi-layer mesh to promote breathability which partially hides ISOFIT™ strides (in a similar way Nike Air Zoom Vomero 12 does) integrated with laces for secure and snug fit. Heel counter becomes simpler without external plastic unit and collar area has been redesigned to provide improved comfort and better achilles protection.
Couple of things which remain from older editions is the full-length 3mm EVERUN layer on top of midsole for responsive ride and well known PowerFoam as main midsole component for reliable and plentiful cushioning. Specific impact pad (SRC) has been removed from rear zone following configuration from other popular running shoes like Ride 10. Outsole embraces more conventional TRI-FLEX configuration in forefoot to increase flexibility and therefore smoother transition while relying in classical softer rubber (IBR+) in the forefoot to enhance cushioning and carbon one (XT-900) in more exposed areas for longer durability.
