Nike ACG ZoomX Ultrafly

The Nike ACG ZoomX Ultrafly is the most hard-hitting trail racing shoe in the ACG (All Conditions Gear) collection, designed for runners looking to maximise performance on fast, technical trails. It sits above the ACG Pegasus Trail (a versatile "door-to-trail" shoe) and the ACG Zegama (maximum protection for long distances), offering a minimalist, responsive platform built specifically for racing. This unisex model draws on everything learned from developing the original Ultrafly, incorporating the improvements requested by the elite athletes who have taken it to victories such as the Western States 100.

The second iteration addresses the shortcomings of its predecessor with a dual carbon plate design that provides more stability without sacrificing responsiveness. Unlike the rigid one-piece plate of the previous version, this configuration allows more natural foot movement and better control on uneven ground. The ZoomX midsole offers Nike's best energy return, while the Vibram Megagrip outsole (which is becoming a standard for any serious shoe) with shallow lugs prioritises efficiency on smooth, fast terrain over versatility in deep mud. The Vapormesh upper is light and breathable, although some users find breathability could be better in warm conditions.

Ideal for experienced runners looking for a racing shoe for long distances on technical trails, the ACG ZoomX Ultrafly combines responsive cushioning with a stable platform that inspires confidence at high speed. The fit is roomy in the forefoot, allowing natural toe movement without sacrificing hold. The design is simple, and if you did not look at the outsole you would not guess it is a shoe for enjoying beyond the road.
