Description

The revamped New Balance Fresh Foam 1080 v9 does not feature disrupting changes but introduces interesting updates at all levels to offer better running shoe. As already mentioned in its commercial name, midsole is made of latest development of Fresh Foam which stars a new step forward to get the perfect blend of great and soft cushioning with response. Those looking for a "more traditional" approach regarding daily trainer with abundant cushioning could have a look at 880 v8, already available in american brand's lineup.

Upper is cleaner than in its predecessor Fresh Foam 1080 v8 and is based on multilayer "Jacquard" mesh that adapts well and provides great breathability with high number of ventilation holes. Midfoot keeps big "N" made of reflective material that not only provides extra consistency for improved fit but also increases visibility under poor light conditions. One interesting feature is the new 3D molded heel counter ("Ultraheel") which is firmly padded but raises some concerns about comfort. As usual, feedback from unbiased runners (those who pay full retail price) is mandatory to know real performance.

The impressive midsole is now a little bit thicker and made of Fresh Foam, which is not a static material but under permanent development one thanks to feedback collected from other running shoes like popular Fresh Foam Zante v4. Besides premium foam there are changes in outsole as well with quicker transition as main objective. Plenty of hexagonal lugs (without central hole) of different sizes depending on the area where they are located are combined with several transversal flex grooves to increase ground contact and flexibility respectively in order to provide comfortable and smooth ride.
