The Mizuno Wave Ultima 9 has limited chances to surprise anyone like previous editions and has become a genuine alternative to most popular riders for neutral runners like Supernova Glide 9 or Saucony Ride 10 due to latest technologies from japanese brand like CloudWave™ and great value for money. Featuring relative wide fit and removable insole, the Wave Ultima 9 is a great option to use with custom orthotics.
As expected, upper gets updated from its predecessor Wave Ultima 8 with a computer designed mesh using 3 different kinds of fabric to provide more breathability or secure fit depending on the area. Several sewed overlays including "RunBird" logo grant robust structure while internal strips Dynamotion Fit wrap the foot featuring a more secure transition.
Major highlight in midsole is the new CloudWave™ (successfuly premiered in popular Wave Rider 20) for smoother transition. Rest of midsole in Wave Ultima 9 is based in well known and reliable U4ic platform with full-length U4icX layer on top for enhanced response and solid U4icX crash pad in rear area to increase shock absorption, something heel strikers will definitely appreciate. Minor changes take place in outsole configuration which keeps flex grooves in forefoot to promote a more fluid transition and robust X10 rubber in more exposed areas to increase durability.
