Description

As short summary, the brand new Brooks Bedlam is kind of Levitate 2 with pronation support. It has been released at almost the same time than lighter Ricochet to complete the list of 3 running shoes within Brooks lineup featuring innovative DNA AMP foam in midsole and upper basicaly made of premium Fit Knit, an interesting movement from the american brand which involves certain risks because of high retail price may affect sales figures.

As every first edition there is no predecessor available to compare with although more similar running shoe out there would be mentioned Levitate 2. Upper is basically made of superb Fit Knit that stretchs great and provides good breathability with new "Dynamic Hammock" system on the internal side from heel to midfoot to reinforce stability including some eyelets pretty similar to Nike "FlyWire" cables for snug and more secure fit. As usual in these configurations, typical Brooks logo is painted (only on external side) using reflective material to increase visibility under poor light conditions.

Together with excellent upper, midsole in Brooks Bedlam is the other most interesting feature. It is made of "Guide Rails" technology on top for pronation support (something already working in flagship running shoes like Transcend 5) and full-length DNA AMP foam piece below for abundant cushioning. As expected, outsole has minor changes compared with what premiered in its counterpart for neutral runners Levitate 2 keeping arrowhead configuration in forefoot to promote quicker response and eye-catching "Crystal Rubber" which has raised some concerns about grip in wet conditions.
